Why your teeth are falling out

When you are little and you feel that tooth jiggle in your mouth, you know you are about to lose it. This is an exciting time because the tooth fairy comes and rewards you for that little baby tooth left under your pillow. Feeling this same jiggle is definitely not as thrilling when you are an adult as a loose, permanent tooth is worrisome. You are too old for rewards from the tooth fairy, so why is this happening?

Here are some key teeth falling reasons but don’t worry, emergency dental services are always available should you need them. Your dentist will be happy to put a smile back on your face with bonding, an implant, a denture or a bridge, all of which can give you back the look and function of a full set of teeth.

Accident

Perhaps you enjoy playing sports and during one of your soccer games, the ball comes flying at you, hitting you in the face. Your tooth plummets to the ground. This type of accident is common among athletic people, so it is a good idea to protect your teeth with a mouthguard.

Sometimes an accident can cause your teeth to fall out when you least expect it, like going for a walk, tripping over an object, and falling flat on your face. First, you notice a lot of blood and then you see it, that gleaming white tooth on the ground in front of you.

Emergency dental services may be able to save your tooth. If you can keep your fallen-out tooth, do so. Getting yourself to the dentist as soon as possible is crucial since your open wound can lead to infection and a tooth is only viable for bonding usually in under an hour. If you are not able to save your tooth, your dentist can determine if you are a candidate for an implant or provide you with a denture or bridge. Your dentist will determine what the ideal course of action is when you undergo an oral examination.

Poor oral health care

Do you ignore taking care of your teeth? Are you not one who brushes and flosses regularly? This lack of oral hygiene could cause you to form cavities and other oral health problems leading to tooth decay and eventually be one of your teeth falling reasons.

The loss of your teeth can make you more prone to infection which can lead to other types of disease. Lack of teeth may also cause you to be restricted to a liquid diet. Start taking care of your oral health so you don’t have to end up in this type of situation. Visit your dentist for regular check-ups and professional cleanings and eat a healthy diet. An easy way to help protect your teeth is to start brushing and flossing regularly.

If you take care of your teeth, they will last you a lifetime. Your teeth help you speak clearly, allow you to break down food better for digestion, and are all around an essential component of a healthy body.
